Proverbs 18

An idiot does not enjoy learning, but revels in holding forth on whatever topic he pleases.

(If you’re wicked, expect contempt. Then dishonour & disgrace.)

Listen carefully to what a man says – his words tell you more than he knows. Listen even more carefully to wisdom – it is a spring that gurgles forth refreshment.

(Don’t favour wicked people, or withhold justice from a righteous man)

An idiot lets his lips lead him into a fight – his tongue begs for a beating. Again, his mouth will ruin him, and his speech is a snare to his soul.

The whisperer’s words are like candy-corn; they deliver the moral equivalent of high-fructose corn syrup deep into your already-struggling insulin-resistant bloodstream.

Whoever is slack at work is the peer of the destructive one.
