So I accidentally pressed the happy little sun icon on my phone’s notification pane and got launched into Yahoo’s weather information web page.
Nothing new there – I can be a bit of a klutz at times. And I’ve done it so often that my muscle memory can close the page before it even loads.
…..buuuuut…..
After that accidental press, all my searching started being routed via Yahoo. Odd, I thought. I wonder if I’ve been pressing on a floating pane instead of the “official” iOS search field.
Nope.
Yahoo had changed my iPhone’s default search engine to Yahoo!
Without requesting permission and without iOS warning me.
So now I understand why Yahoo are still the official Weather & Stocks app provider for iOS.
Not cool, Yahoo!
