Writing apps for Apple’s wearable will be as simple as enabling a switch in your app’s Today view widget. Text & simple images on screen; interaction via two buttons or very simple swiping & tapping. See this thread on iMore for details on widgets, and picture this running on a smaller watchface…

iWatch Thoughts
I’ve been wearing a Pebble for the past year or so, because (1) I think wearables are where tech is headed & I want to have an educated opinion on them, and (2) I “deserve” a reward for juggling a newborn and two big sisters. (Don’t you judge me!!1!!! š ) There’s enough to fill… Continue reading iWatch Thoughts
W8ting for perspective
So a relative recently purchased a Windows 8 laptop, and as their resident “computer person” it was my pleasure to “just set it up” for them. I figured it would be informative to compare the setup steps for a new Win 8 laptop to a new MacBook Air… Windows 8.1 preparatory process onĀ ???-brandedĀ laptop: Attach battery… Continue reading W8ting for perspective

Suiting Up
I don’t think I’ve seen any demos of iOS 7 where the device being demoed is black. Certainly not on Apple’s iOS 7 site. Of course this is partly aesthetic – the new UI is very heavy on whitespace and looks good framed on a slab of white. However, I’m not sure how great all… Continue reading Suiting Up
Thoughts on iOS 7
My top ten list of interesting things: 10. Parallax wallpapers. They shift as you move your phone around. Unnecessary iCandy maybe, but I like it. 9. Calendar animations. Colour & movement that actually help you navigate around your schedule. No need for buttons to go from Month to Week to Day views. 8. Swiping Back.… Continue reading Thoughts on iOS 7
TouchPal
Of the two keyboards noted yesterday, one costs $5 and the other $0, so you can guess which I’m testing firstā¦
Round Two: Keyboards for iOS
Yesterday’s postĀ felt like a bit of a downer, so today’s is just a quick update to point out that all is not lost – there are at least two more iOS keyboards available. 1. Octopus. Is getting good reviews in the jailbreak community and looks a like I imagine the new BB10 keyboard to be.… Continue reading Round Two: Keyboards for iOS
iswipe i-shwipe
I’m sorry. I just can’t do it. iswipe is just not trustworthy enough to use as a primary keyboard. There are just too many errors and inconsistencies to be able to type quickly, and there’s not much more important on a work phone than fast text input. And worse than that, a trusted friend has… Continue reading iswipe i-shwipe
Still pig with iswipe
So the experiment is only just going okay so fat. (Darn it iswipe. Henceforth I’ll correct its errors in brackets like these.)
